Day 2 - WFH
Well, I fully embraced working from home (WFH)! I woke up at 7am, scrolled through my Facebook and Insta for a bit, before stumbling across a post uploaded by Joe Wicks - The Body Coach. If you don't know then you need to find out - he is brilliant... not to mention pretty easy on the eyes! Anyway, he is going live at 9am every day on his YouTube channel, with a 30 minute P.E lesson - it's aimed at kids who are off school but MY GOD, it was hard!! I am not lying when I say I was a sweaty mess at the end of the 30 minutes but it was good - felt good, accomplished!
To reward myself for my 45min workout (Joe Wicks plus a 30-day challenge to doing the splits I found in the app store), I decided that it was a soft boiled egg and soldiers kind of day! Strange not to be in school but nice to be able to work out and have breakfast - two things I don't usually have time to do on a normal school day.
The rest of the day was EXTREMELY productive: I did two loads of washing (and hung them out in the sunshine), cleaned the house, set school work for the next few days and filled my face with everything in sight. That wasn't in the plan but it couldn't be helped - when chocolate calls, I answer!
One thing I did do which I thought would bring some positivity to a life in isolation, is a 'Wall of Gratefulness'. Basically, every day, my fiance and I are going to write one thing that each of us is grateful for. It is inevitable that we will go a bit stir crazy and that at times it will be difficult to stay positive so this is a way for us to find positivity in such an uncertain time.
Productive day done, it was obviously time for a game of Monopoly... and a bottle of Prosecco - two more things we never usually have time for mid-week, or early week in this case! Any of you that know me, know that I am THE most competitive person ever (I get it from my dad) so you can imagine that I didn't take kindly to the other half's strategy of 'buy everything so India can't' and was ready to give up about 20minutes in. After an hour I decided I was more interested in the music that was on and gave up on Monopoly - I still played but it was clear that my heart wasn't in it, much to the dismay of my fiance! I know what you are thinking - what a wild night, who is this crazy rebel?! Well, it got even more out of hand... I didn't go to bed till midnight!! I know, I'm so sad but my bed and a few episodes of Brooklyn 99 were too much to resist!!

Day 1 - A Strange Day
So, on Wednesday 18th March the PM (BoJo) announced that all schools were to close from Friday 20th March, to all students except those of key workers, or those classed as vulnerable and/or with an EHCP. This is unprecedented, something that has never happened before but definitely something that was needed.
Over the weekend, we received communications from our school about a plan of action, along with a rota which told us when we should expect to be in school over the next few weeks. I looked for my name, scrolling, and scrolling, till I get to April - that's me! Four full weeks of social distancing and working remotely from home - a strange concept to someone who is used to teaching the lessons they prepare. Probably weirder, still, for the students who usually have a teacher there to help them with their work.
So here I am, working from home! I have plenty to do but I definitely need some form of outlet, so why not use the blog that I set up as an empty example for my Post 16 class?! I've never done this before so if you aren't fan, don't read it - simples! It's more for my sanity than anything else.
Here goes...
On Monday 23rd March, I went into school. I work at a pretty big school in a beautiful Yorkshire town; the school is usually buzzing with students by the time I get there but not today - it's a complete ghost town.
Our instructions were simple: if you are not down to work this week, get everything you need, clean your room (ready for fumigation) and leave - the fewer people on-site, unnecessarily, the better. So I followed orders - I got my stuff, said a few hellos and goodbyes to some very dear colleagues and was on my way. Most people would have been skipping out of work like 'YESSSSS 4 WEEKS AT HOME!!' but it was too strange, plus, I love my job!
Now, I am not one of those people that has been panic buying but cannot lie, I took a trip to Aldi on my way home for food and supplies - I didn't overbuy, just bought what I needed. Again, a very strange experience - empty shelves, people buying everything in sight - insane!
Then home, the place where I am to spend my time for the next four weeks. First thing's first - time for a hinch! I am a little bit OCD when it comes to cleaning, this is no exaggeration - you should see my cleaning cupboard - angels sing whenever I open it and I have an excellent Zoflora selection. My fiance said I was mad for my cleaning obsession but he actually admitted that, in light of the current situation, that I did good!
Now, I wish I could say this was a super interesting day but I would be lying - I planned my lessons for Tuesday, put them on Showbie and scoffed a delightful meal of spaghetti and meatballs (with cheesy garlic bread, obvs!), before heading to bed at the very responsible time of 10pm!
